An Apple for the Teacher:
A Classroom Safety Video

In 2024, Wild Moon Productions was asked to create a ‘How to’ video for the Snohomish Health Department. The project’s aim was to provide teachers with essential tips for keeping the classroom safe, and to deliver said tips in a fun and entertaining manner. Our approach to this was to pull inspiration from the bygone era of mid-century educational classroom films. Enjoy!

When You Wish Upon a Safety Star

To bring the idea to life, I set out to design a character that could confidently guide our teacher through the ins and outs of keeping the classroom a safe space. After many iterations, we decided on this animated apple character: Meet Professor Cornelius Von Apple Strudel III, who is loosely based upon Jimmy Cricket

The challenge of making this safety information come alive brought with it an exciting opportunity to mix live action with animation. Directing a video that incorporates the two mediums requires an immense amount of planning. Luckily I had help on creating the props from 2nd grade crafting master and daughter, Hattie.
